This is one of the awaited chrismas present tutorials, a gift we've made for a good friend who happens to like everything thats cat-ish, especially - of course - if it has its origins in otaku-culture, like this:

Nyamo and Miyuki (figure)

We decided to give a Nyamo (the small catish thingy) a try and make it. As a base we used the well known Poring Plushie pattern, attached ears and tail, cut the right face and swoosh, there it was. But step for step for now...

First take a sheet of Cloth thats quadratic if you fold it in half, so 25x50cm for example, add the markings as shown.

Sew along the markings, fold the cloth over and add the markings once again, this time on the folded side, like this:

After sewing fold over again, mark again, go

After cutting off the excess fabric it should look like this:

Then we want to cut off a round piece so we can attach a circle which works as a base later:

You need to measure the base with a flexible measure to know how large your circle has to be (notice saber lily in the background watching the action!)

We decided that the tail will be simple sewed from a large piece (27x12cm) of cloth with a double round shape (4cm in heigt) at the end so the end (when sewed together and turned inside out) will look nice and round.

Fill and close the tail now so its ready for attaching.

Attach the tail, you'll notice you filled it too much .

Then the most important part, the Neko-Mimi.... i thought i'd not scan the Shapes and provide them as a pattern cause its so dead-simple, everyone can make it. So you also have a bit more of your own.

They consist of 3 parts each, two "main ear" parts and the "inner pink" which will be hand-sewed onto the sewed-together-and-already-turned-inside-out-main-ears

The face, as always is one of the biggest problem, cause it will determin how cute and nice the plushies look will be when finished, so some experimenting needs to be done, first the eyes, with standard-sparkle....

Not bad already, the mouth wasn't quite it... also the eyes are not too nice. If you've seen lucky star all that nyamo does is yawning, so a more sleepy face needs to be found...

Now, i hope this is a nice idea for everyone who loves making things themselves, and loves lucky star. If you have a dear otaku/nerd whose birthday is coming up, or who you want to give this for chrismas (well, planning early ... a bit) or any other occasion, i think nyamo is a nice idea . Hey, Eefi here~! I made one of my favorite headgears from Ragnarok Online! This plushie emerged from the attempt whether the sewing pattern for Poring's body works for other not so regular shapes as well. Apparently, it does although I had to make a few changes. I don't have any in progress pictures since I wasn't sure if it'd work out and I'm not that keen to make a second one in the near future. The arrow is a somewhat of a pain to make and everything has to be sewn by hand! (Which is the major downside because it takes ages!) If you're lucky and your sewing machine is tamed to the extend so you can sew veeery slow, do it with the machine. Our's isn't, making every curved stitch nearly impossible.

Also, there's no pattern this time.

Cut out a 12x24 cm rectangle from red fleece. Fold it once so the wrong side you'll be sewing on is outside. You'll get a square on which you need to draw the shape on. Make sure you sew all along the edge on the open side. For the remaining ones, follow the sketches. You should close the bottom as you can still stuff your apple from the top hole.

Stem: To make things easier and avoid sewing this one at all use a pipe cleaner as the stem. Otherwise: Cut out a 4x2 cm piece from green fleece. Fold once lengthwise, sew along the dotted path (whip stitch) and turn it inside out:

Leaf (optional): Isn't included in the original Apple of Archer but makes the apple look more like an apple. Cut out two leaf-shaped pieces, sew along the edge, turn inside out. Use darker thread to sew on the leaf structure if you like.

Arrow: White in the original picture, I used black fabric here. Might try it with white or gray fabric if I redo it. (What I haven't tried is making the arrow out of two pieces since you won't see the middle part anyway.) Cut out a 25x2 cm piece, fold once lengthwise, sew along the dotted path below. Please note that both sides are open. Try to turn it inside out, I wish you the best of luck. (Before you give up and throw it away, cut off two pieces that you want to use for the back and front parts. How long you make them is up to you. Try turning them around again.) Make the arrow head and the feather tail like the leaf. Don't assemble the parts yet.

Stuff everything. If you can manage, the arrow will be robust enough, but you can still put some wire in. Cut two little holes in your apple to put the arrow through. You may have to re-stuff the apple again. Sew the arrow to the apple. Now sew the remaining parts onto the arrow. If you made a leaf, sew that onto the stem before sewing it on your apple (while closing the apple).

You're done! For making it a real headgear, sew on a hair clip or attach your plush apple to a hairband.

[Removed a picture with me wearing it because I look horrible. It'll wobble when you walk so it's quite amusing - although it will fall off after some time. Will try attaching it to a hairband later.]
